UFC 257: POIRIER vs. MCGREGOR 2
The main event of the evening featured a Lightweight rematch between former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and former interim champion Dustin Poirier. The fighters had previously met in a featherweight bout at UFC 178 in September 27, 2014, where McGregor won by first round TKO. This time, Poirier defeated McGregor in the second round with a TKO victory. After this fight, the pair decided to settle the rivalry into an ultimate face off 6 months later in Las Vegas. For their final fight, Poirier scored a first-round stoppage of McGregor after the Irishman broke his left leg on the ring.In the co-main event of the night, Michael Chandler was facing Dan Hooker. Chandler had signed with the UFC in September 2020 after a tenure in Bellator that included him becoming a three-time lightweight champion. The 34-year-old proved he could hang with the top tier of the UFC lightweights as he obliterated Hooker with a left hand midway through the first round.
On the 2 days leading to The Arena also hosted the Official Press Conference with the 4 main fighters and Dana White answering media questions, as well as the Official Weight-In for all fighters.
